I was a really attentive husband during my wife's recent back surgery recovery. Earned mega brownie points, and got permission to spend $x on a dive trip this year, since I'd been so good.

I was going to go on a local dive club trip to Roatan, but my fave dive buddy (and uber photographer) said he'd rather go to Bali instead (his favorite location, he's been many times), and he was sure he could match the price of the dive club trip (which I had permission to go on already). Cut to present... I have tickets to Bali!

The lovely thing about Asia (and Indonesia, and some other locations) is, while the trip itself it relatively expensive (although not as bad as you'd think), once you get there everything is quite cheap.

I'm spending within a couple hundred dollars of what it would cost me to dive for a week in Florida.

If more people realized this, exotic dive locations would be a lot more crowded.

Any who wants to come along is welcome, you just need a ticket! 5/28-6/7 on Cathay Pacific, relatively reasonable (all things considered) at the moment, come along for the trip! (if you can keep up, that is, hee-hee)

I'm sure I'll wish I had more time for topside stuff, but this trip is going to be all about maximizing bottom time.

Is this trip a package trip with a LDS or other operator? Or are you piecing it together yourself.

I am interested to hear about the cost of diving in Bali. My experience in Asia is that much is priced to the American standard in the cities, and once you get outside of the cities, you realize just how cheap things really are. But I have no experience diving in this part of the world, so I don't know how the diving will be priced.

My buddy's been there many times before, though, so it's not like going in cold. I'm bringing my own tour guide!
