Family is planning a trip to Oahu sometime next year. Anyone have experiences with operators on the island? They actually asked me what I wanted to do while there. Duh! Dive,surf,dive,surf,dive surf. I didn't know there was anything else to do.

Keeping your car from being broken into is a good pastime on the West shore Seriously though, your car is a serious target on the West shore.

You can always see Pearl Harbor. Also, a great place for the whole family is Hanuama Bay on the south shore, southeast actually. The coral close to shore is all dead because stupid people touch it, but you don't have to go very far before it's alive. This is nice because there isn't much risk of the kids touching something they shouldn't. We saw lots of nudibranchs, puffers, humus and other triggerfish, surgeonfish, turtles, eels, octopus, flounder, etc. Lifeguards always on duty. It's not free, but it's not very expensive, plus the parking is monitored by a guard. You can find the info here:

This was my wifes favorite place / activity on the whole island.

The best restaraunt we went to was Lei Lei’s Bar and Grill at Turtle Beach country club. The Herb Crusted Chicken was simply amazing. No other word for it, that atmosphere was really cool at night with tikis everywhere, and people had their kids there too. It's also supposed to be a good place to stay, but we rented an entire house for the week, which is a good option with a family.
