Anyone know of a scheduled trip to Valhalla in Texas?

I'm a landlocked, ocean starved, diver desparately in need of a localish watering hole to play in. I'm absolutely dying to make a trip to Valhalla, but none of the local dive shops go there. Does anyone know of a scheduled trip that my buddy and I can join in on. We're willing to beg, plead, or gravel as needed.

Many thanks. If it helps, I am a native Texan. If you happen to be the one I need to beg and plead to, please pm me so that I can get started.

Another transplanted Okie, huh? I live in Edmond, I am from Austin originally (been in Oklahoma about 8 years now but still always say "from Austin originally"). I've never been to Valhalla - it sounded interesting, until I saw 57-60 degree temps...no thanks...I'm a wimp, at 67 degrees I'm not having fun anymore.

However, if you are looking for a decent lake dive within a reasonable drive.

Last year some buddies and I made a trip down to Clear Springs Scuba Park. We made a weekend camping out of it. It's about 4 hours from OKC, so anything less than a 2 day camping trip wouldn't seem worth it.

Vis is typically 10-15ft, occasionally up to 20ft. It definitely beats most of the Okie mudholes that I have tried (though I admit that I haven't tried Tenkiller, but I can't find too many people that will tell me it's warm enough, or clear enough to bother with).

Thanks, for the info. I haven't tried Clear Springs yet but its on the radar for the summer. The cold water at Valhalla doesn't excite me either, but my last dive was at 62 degrees and it was bearable. Truth be told, I'll overlook a bit of cold for the nostalgia of diving a missile silo.

I too am in Edmond, originally from Houston. I've enjoyed Oklahoma but I miss living near the gulf. I've done a few Oklahoma mudholes and agree that they can be less than thrilling. I have heard good things about Tenkiller though, so If you ever get the urge to go let me know.

International SCUBA in Garland and Carrollton is planning to make a run out there, as I recall, but I don't recall the dates.
