just got back
from Bon. Stayed at Buddys, for the 2nd time.
Arrival was a breeze, we were in our room at Buddys by 5am!! Diving was great. The rubble from Omar(primarily at the top of the drop offs) has provided great cover for juvenile fish, octos, eels, nudis, pipefish, seahorses, and the like. Many very large fish patrolling these areas, permits, jacks, cudas, groupers, and some of the biggest partrott fish(orange and brown), I've ever seen. Angels of every type and phase were everywhere you looked. The tarpons have grown to atleast 1/2 dozen patrolling the reef at Buddys,Dons, and sanddollar. Saw a 6' nurse shark at 1 of the northern dive sites, very rare for this side of the island. Also the week we were there, fishers caught a susposed bull shark, it was all over the news and papers , cause it was on the west side. Water temps high 70-low80, viz was down due to everything spawning,,,,everywhere you looked!! Life is abundant. Many dolphin sitings, and the now resident pod on the south end of the island has 2 calves. Turtles by the dozens!! Probably the most fish life I've seen in our 4 trips there. The dive staff were as always, great. I've read reports to the contrary, but have to say, both times at Buddys, they were wonderful. The boats were comfortable and on time. They had 4 of their boats working in full swing. All this being said, I have to say we only did boat dives, and the shore dives off Buddys Reef. Still haven't mastered the whole "stick", driving monster!!! Gotta go and book our return dates for Nov/09!!! ![]()
