........Well I understand you will be going to Indonesia this year and I heard this AM...SE Asia had their first case of Swine flu. This Swine flu could be more deadly than Dengue, Yellow, Typhoid fevers Avian, Sars flu's....Rabies, Malaria, Hepatitis etc that you face in Indonesia.....Since you will not put me in you will....How about a 100K life insurance policy?
Sure if you want to pay the premimums.

Of course I will...LOL....and to show you how "Swell" and truly magnanimous I can be......between now and mid October if that Hernia starts to bother you again or the fear of Swine flu makes you think twice about your late December trip to Indo....I'll take that trip off your hands...I figure if I extend my trip...cover some spots in Indo I have not been and dive 4 to 5 times a day.....I may get in 1000 dives before.......

Just send me any paper work I need to sign. I don't have life insurance right now. Being single I see no need for it.

You might get a 1000 dives before ... what? Before you die?

Why mid October the trip isn't till Dec 21?

Why mid Oct?.....need to extend my return flight as right now...I'm planned to leave Oct 31 and return Nov 27....and if you decide to give me your trip due to fears of the Swine flu etc.....gotta change my return flight till January....that should give me time to get 1000 dives in before You

That and about 2 years. Aren't you currently less then 600 dives? I'm at 931. I'd like to see you do that many dives before I get to 1000 but for some reason I just don't see you doing it. Needless to say the only thing you get for getting to 1000 is to say you've done a 1000 dives. So what!

Okc_diver,
You are correct in that you will not get a full refund but, check with your airline. Mine tells me I can move itinerary or apply the value of the ticket toward an alternate destination. Change fees would be waived. Expect to loose some, but not all, of your money.

I hope you're right about it leveling off by the end of the month.

My trip is at the end of May so I think that it will level off by then

I have thought about postponing but the real reason I booked it for that week is I want to do some diving on my birthday (May 27). I spent last year there I was not certified. The hotel had a resort class and I took it one was a shore dive and the other one a boat dive. So when I go back I will be able to go to other spots. I picked Cozumel because I am on a budget and it was cheeper than other places like Bonaire and Roatan. I just want someplace that I can relax in the water and try out my gear.

Has there been any cases from Cozumel? Or are most of the cases in/around Mexico City? How many infected just turn of to be the flu and not swine flu or what ever they want to call it.

The following is a partial quote from CNN:

Authorities in Mexico are "beginning to see evidence that the [virus] might be letting up, and the number of people who have been hospitalized has leveled out in regards to people who are contagious, at least as of yesterday," Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard told reporters.

From what I can tell it is just in Mexico City and a few isolated places from people who have been to Mexico City

I am going to remain calm through this

Packing right now to leave for Roatan in a couple hours, hopefully that little island will be spared, because I'm not going to reschedule now!

Congratulations on your certification. I hope you have a relaxing dive trip and b'day celebration! I usually celebrate my b'day with a dive trip also. You seem to have a good plan and remaining calm will always serve you well.

I haven't read anything specifically about the flu spreading to Coz (yet). But I have heard that some precautionary measures are being taken. I'm trying to stay objective and will continue looking for facts about the situation.
