I thought it was a great place for a family of divers to visit. Easy dives for new divers (kids in our case) and nice beaches to chill on between dives.

Great pics! Glad to hear the political situation hasn't affected the area. We're looking at heading that way this November, but there aren't many direct flights to Roatan from the US or Canada.

The Monkeys are really cool and allot of fun, but remember they are wild. The trick to getting them to come down to you is a cup of fruit or juice, they like cocktails also but you shouldn't do that.

On the fruit, just offer a small piece, place your hand against the tree and hold the fruit in the other and do not leave your cup unattended, they are smart. They will come down slowly and walk across the extended arm, over your shoulders to the fruit on the other side. They might stay awhile and might not, usually after they get the fruit they will go back up the tree.

They love the juice but since it is in a cup (they like cups too) they want the whole thing and will usually take it and go back up the tree where they drink/spill and tear the cup up before dropping it.

They will sneak down and take things (food, sunglasses, shirts, everything) so be careful about leaving stuff. I hear they have taken Reg's off of balconies before and they will go in your room if the door is left open.

Both of my daughters and wife loved the monkeys and they are a blast but they are wild and very strong so don't move too fast or act threatening, this will get the attention of the alpha male especially around the babies. Please pick up any cups or trash that they drop so it does not end up on a dive site.........

Have a great time and take some pictures!

thanks for the tips on the monkeys!!! I had heard the part about the rooms, guess some of the group I'm going with have had that experience before. I'm also glad to hear that the shore diving is good as Forrest gets a little worn out being on the boat all day. He's very fair and doesn't spend too much time outside. On the last trip we went on, there were 2 other kids. All the adults were sitting around talking, etc. on the boat-all the kids were napping away-they were probably the smart ones!!

The shore dives are great and worth doing multiple times and at night. You can change up where and what you do on the shore dive depending on what you like.............
