Worst Dive Ever!!!

So my buddy and I decide to go to Athens for a day trip, I got a new reg and a new computer and wanted to test it out. After the two hour drive from FTW we arrived at what appeared to look like a decent dive park.... Looks are definitely deceiving..... Vis was maybe 3 ft... Period. The water is a murky blue and it is like looking thru a blurry blue shower curtain, and the PH in the lake is horrific. we had planned to have a few tank dives but after we burned through approx 2000 psi we decided to close up shop and leave that town in the dust. Only hight light of the trip was the computer and reg I've purchased performed flawlessly.... OH and the MILF that was flirting with me at dinner.... she would be the ONLY reason I would EVER go back to Athens TX

3 ft??? That's not too bad for ASP. You gotta get there early to get better viz.

And, there is no vegetation either.

On the plus side, it's warm enough to dive without a wetsuit.

How can the fish and other animals survive?

There are no fish in Athens Scuba Park. The bottom is soft, gooey, white mud.

Our local quarry is nasty with algae, it is a record season and temps have been warm. There is an occasional fish, but most were killed off due to copper treatment which was necessary for algae control. Vis was anywhere from the length of my buddy to maybe 20 feet. Sticks everywhere. Ick.

I'm with you split, but I only went for practice. I thought I would get more out of my wreck class if I had handled a reel before and had some clue how the characteristics of my new tanks affected me. It was good time spent, but I feel no calling at all to go there just to "get wet".
