Where to Go in December?

Trying to plan another dive trip for early December. Since this is the 3rd trip of the year, I'm trying to keep the price pretty low, so we're probably constrained to Caribbean/Central America.
  • Roatan - Fantasy Island has a great BOGO deal through December, but it's rainy season in Roatan then. For those that have been there in early December, how much does the rainy season effect the diving? This would be our second trip to Roatan, stayed at BIBR last time.
  • Caymans - would love to do if I could find a good deal. How's the diving in December?
  • Curacao - Sounds like December is a good time to go and is a time that might allow for diving on the North coast. Seen some pretty bad reports on Habitat... what are other affordable options?
  • Belize (land based) - are northers an issue in December? Was hoping to do Belize on a liveaboard, but price is excluding that for this trip.
  • Cocos Island - haven't looked into cost, so not sure this is even an option.
We've been to Dominica and Cozumel this year (Coz is always a good option, but I want to try something new and we've been there 3x). Not considering Bonaire for this trip, since we'd like to do that one with a couple more people.

Suggestions welcome!

anywhere in Caribbean is going to have the possibility of ugly weather - norte winds, etc. BUT that doesn't mean you shouldn't go.
Roatan - good option for FI as it is on the southside of island so if the wind does blow it won't blow out the diving there. Of the places you listed, it would be my first choice - good diving and less expensive than the others.
Cocos - must do it by liveaboard (long boat ride 36-48 hours each way to get there) which is much more expensive that you realize, probably double any land-based you have mentioned.
Belize, Caymans, Curacao - probably all about the same price.

Cocos Island/Malpelo...is up there with the best of Pacific Diving....Unfortunitly I could never take the 30+ hours to get out there on a LOB....look at the Undersea Hunter...I'd love to do that trip!...I hear December is the best time of the year to go.

I didn't know that..........thanks for posting it.

We were in Roatan in January...........6 days of cold, cold rainy weather.
Spent most of our non-dive time trying to warm up.

Cool. I'll look into that as well. We want to do a lot of diving. Are there resorts for divers with shore diving (similar to CCV, BIBR, Scuba Club Cozumel, Blue Angel Resort, etc.)?

Just google St Croix, it will have a info web site. It will give you links for resorts, hotels, apartments, the whole smear. If ya do go there, ya have to dive the pier.
