The general consensus is that Unexso is good and by far the most convenient but it is a little pricey. (two-tanks $99). We're paying $50-60 for a boat trip out of Fort Lauderdale, not including tanks. Tanks run about $10 each.

So depending on what gear Unexso includes with their trips that price may not be too bad. The other thing is they work a lot with cruise ships so understand you have to be back to your boat by a certain time.

Just some food for thought.....

If you book the dive trip through the cruise line, they will wait for you and/or make arrangements for you to catch up to the boat if you miss it.

If you book the dive trip through a local op and miss the boat you are pretty much hosed and better get your credit card out to catch the next port or go home.

Good advice. We tell our travel clients (we own a travel aency) that as well. Folks are surprized that the ship won't wait for them. Then, they find out the hard way and come whining to us that they missed the boat and that the cruise line should reimburse them. What's REALLY fun is that they get off the ship without their passport and get left behind.

Thanks to everyone so far for respondng. Please continue.

I dove with Unexso several years ago and they seemed to have a very well run, friendly staffed operation. Even further back than that, our cruise ship used them for the snorkeling excursion. You may pay a little more using them, but honestly I think you'll find it to be worthwhile.

Get a hold of Unexco when you are in Freeport, best diving is out of Lucaya.

Definitely something to consider although if it's gonna happen Freeport is the best place to miss the ship as you can get a shuttle back to Miami for $29.00!

It's very important to book with reputable providers if choosing private excursions.

What about the people that don't have a passport to begin with so they cruise with a BC and DL? Crazy.

How about some braids for your sexy lady? If I heard that one more time I was gonna choke someone!! I try to steer clear of the straw market. My wife is all about them since she likes to haggle over prices. Not my bag.
