Bali Christmas

I booked a flight to Bali today. Arriving Dec 25th. Departing Jan 13.

Haven't got anything else booked yet. I've read some of the recent threads and would appreciate any ideas or recommendations.

Geez....You have a few options....spend 4 or 5 dive days in Bali....then head to Raja Ampat stay at the Sorido resort or do a LOB for a week and see if you can squeeze in Lembeh Straits for a few days....another option is head to East Timor pristine diving and Lembeh Straits or you can....Well I can go on and on....LOL....you are in for some of the finest diving in the world!

I almost forgot....if you are flying thru Singapore....spend a nite or two...great city...go to the Boat Quay and have the chili Crab!

Make sure you wear gloves down there, not only will it keep your fingers warm at manta pt and crystal bay, gloves will help you grab on to sharp rocks/corals when a current is threatening to drag u down to davy jone's locker.
Try some Laksa if you're going through Singapore, my preference would be Laksa with rice noodles, no beansprouts and no cockles. Try googling for Katong Laksa. And you might also want to drop by one of the NTUC supermarkets to grab lots of premixed spice packets of asian soups and gravies

You can also head towards Lombok from candidasa, just a ferry from there. I intended to do that during my Sept trip but did not have enough time. Crystal Bay, Nusa perida are where the elusive Mola Mola or oceanic sun fish are often sighted. Thou the water is about 20 to 22 degree celsius.

Further up north, 3hrs from the airport is Tulamben where you have a wreck, the USAT Liberty a stone throw away. Say 20 meters from the shore....

There are others but these are the 2 that I visited.

Thanks for the tips so far. It was looking like Toronto -> Frankfurt -> Singapore -> Denpasar for a while but I ended up with Toronto -> Seoul -> Denpasar.

A live aboard to Komodo is an excellent trip. Komodo is very diverse and you get big stuff as well as macro and muck. You can also do a tour of the island and see the Komodo Dragons up close.

Been to Wakatobi twice and while it is a great place there are far better places to dive in Indonesia. Don't get me wrong the diving is good there but nowhere what can be found in other parts of the country. The dive resort though is excellent and some of the best food I've eaten in Indonesia as well.
