Yes, I was talking about trip insurance coverage but this is one of the options that DAN offers.

mitsuguy, you are correct that the medical coverage for dive accidents requires you to be in the water. Only the premium plan has 10K of general medical coverage which as you point out, only goes so far. But you are incorrect about the medical evacuation. The medical evacuation is not attached to the dive accident insurance, it is part of the general DAN membership. The coverage is to 100,000 for emergency transport for any medical emergency. That is why they have so many non divers carrying DAN memberships.

24-Hour DAN TravelAssist
As a DAN Member, you automatically receive DAN TravelAssist and up to $100,000 of evacuation assistance coverage. Effective for both diving and non-diving injuries, this benefit is provided by AIG Travel Assist, a world leader in emergency evacuation services. Your evacuation coverage begins when you are traveling at least 50 miles/80 km from home and call DAN TravelAssist to arrange your evacuation.

Only 10K for evacuation???? I thought it was more.

Mitsuguy, DAN didn't help out much with your wifes accident, wow!!

I'm starting to wonder if this is a good deal.

Snagel

Snagel, this is what DAN states about the dive accident plans. It is WAY worth it!

Dive Accident Insurance*
DAN offers three plans to choose from, with no mileage restriction when you use your dive accident or injury coverage.
"IMPORTANT: DAN TravelAssist must arrange ALL evacuations. If you make your own emergency evacuation arrangements DAN TravelAssist will not reimburse the cost."

Better read the stuff carefully.
