Where to take a family with Children?

I need some help from all you experienced travelors.

I have been polling my family and there seems to be unanimous agreement that rather than have a traditional Christmas (with gifts), a Christmas family trip would be prefered.

Myself, DW, and four children between the age of 15 and 7. Only my DW and I dive so I need to go someplace warm and sunny that in addition to diving for us we can do things as a family and the children will have some fun also. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

One other thing, my DW says I can't sell the house or any children to pay for it, so reasonbly priced. (I know that "resonably priced" is subjective, but Fiji and the likes are out of the question.)

Again, any ideas would sure be a help.

1.) What is DW?
2.) I would recommend the Keys.

DW is Dear Wife - at least I feel that way. It could be somthing else but that could be trouble.

I looked at the Keys online. Lots for divers and snorklers, what about kids? Disney World is a longggg drive.

How old are your kids? We did 4 days at Disney and 4 Days in the Keys. My kids (13, 11, 8, and 3) liked the Keys better. However, my DW (sure, dear works) doesn't dive so I had built in child care.

BTW, we stayed at a hotel with a private beach but there are several things to do like swimming with the dolphins, museums, etc.

Did you go in December?

Also, where did you get to swim with dolphins? My daughters would kill to do that.

No, we went in May so it would be a different experience. I have never been in the winter, but I don't think it will be THAT much cooler.

Total blast!! I might have talked myself into ditching the holidays and taking a dive trip!!

And YES it's a good idea to get the kids a passport. You never know when you might have to leave the country in a hurry...........

Just the fees and taxes flying 6 people to Cozumel would be over $1200, it seems this could get "unreasonable" very fast with lodging and meals and airfare.
Not trying to be negative, just looked at flights and those numbers popped out at me.
