Oahu Dive Report
Just got back from a quick weekend trip to Hawaii to see my brother in law before he heads to Iraq and had a chance to get some bottom time with him. We actually lucked out...normally diving the North Shore at this time of year is all but impossible because the surf is coming in (think Banzai Pipeline) but on Saturday the weather gods cooperated and the surf was down so we were able to shore dive at Shark's Cove and Firehouse/The Cathedrals. Shark's Cove was great, while the vis was less than perfect so we were told, the lava tubes make for great swim throughs and lots of fish of all kinds. The highlight of Firehouse is the Cathedrals...huge arches that are spectacular (see pic...taken by Dave Sanborn). At the end of the day, a friend who lives on the North Shore handed me a 50 that he had at the house and we did a little locals only wall that was great. By then the surf was building so getting through the shore break was a bit of exciting but it was worth it. On most of the dives we hit 45-50 feet.

Thanks BuzzGA for the trip report. I love the pic. I have a friend in Oahu, but it's not that easy for me to get out there as I'm on the East Coast, near D.C. There's no "quick" weekend trip to Hawaii for me. One day, I'll get out there to visit my friend and do some diving. Thanks again for a very descriptive report and great pic.
