St. Croix in December
My extended family has a trip planned to STX exactly one month from today. Four of us would like to log a few dives while we're there, and were wondering if anyone would be kind enough to recommend a fun and safe dive operator.
Any other recommendations on which dives exceeded expectations would be more than welcomed! Thanks for your time. |

We were in STX in 2004. We stayed on the north side. Dove at Cane Bay. Good shore diving there, if you don't mind a little swim. If you do mind a swim, they will be glad to book a boat dive on their inflatable, and take you to the same spot, for a fee. Diving was interesting, though I'm not sure I would say it "exceeded expectations". (but we're pretty spoiled....)

I'll second the Cane Bay response.
I dove with them over a Christmas holiday a few years back. The diving was okay. The service was okay. Nothing great, nothing awful. I remember being happy that there were only a handful of divers. On the other hand, the decision of the DM to head out under the conditions was considered iffy by more than one person. It was my first dive after my OW cert, so at the time I really didn't think I was in a position to judge (looking back - it was sort of iffy and the rigid hull inflatable we took out was awkward for a newbie). Actually, now that I think about it, after telling the DM I was a bit nervous and that it was my first dive he started the dive at 80+ feet. This story is starting to not sound so great, so I'll stop here. It really wasn't a bad experience.

I was there this summer. If you are going to saty close to Chiristianstead I'll recomend SCUBA. (Saint Croix Ultimate Bluewater Adventure) They are located downtown, very close to the marina. Personally I don't like shore diving due to the mess. They offer boat diving and they will take to all the best dive sites in St. Croix. They are friendly, have economic packages and have excellent facilities for rinsing, storing your gear and buying anything you may need. If you want they will do anything for you.
