You could take it through American Diving while doing your dives on the Clipper.

Good point, I might have to do that.

This is 'not' a wreck, it is an artificial reef that happens to be a gutted ship....two different things. :-)

It is approx. 17 miles off the shore line.

Cost.... almost nothing in scuba is inexpensive.

Ok, the distance is nearly 3 times the Spiegle Grove distance. That does explain it a bit. I'm just wondering if there is enough diving to make this worth a vacation? Are there other "Artificial Reefs" in the area, and what about regular reefs? I know there are rigs to dive, but diving the "Artificial Reef" and a few rigs doesn't seem like enough to justify a trip.

You're right, everything in scuba is expensive. That's why dollar for dollar, the keys or even cozumel makes more sense than 3 or 4 days diving the Texas Clipper. Now if I lived closer, and could make a weekend trip, I'd do it for sure.

Most wrecks above 100' become reefs regardless of why they sunk. Even though it was intentionally sunk for reef purposes and preped prior to sinking it is a huge ship and I am sure a very technical penetration wreck. It would be very easy to get lost in that ship. Does anyone know if they have welded open or removed all the interior doors?
