Oh I see, well there really isn't a lot of other activities. But enough to explore for several days. We were horseback riding, visited the Donkey Sanctuary, shopped a little, ate at some good restaurants, spent a whole day driving around the island sight seeing, I think I could spend a day just hiking the Park, there is wind surfing and ample beaches to sun on. I'm sure I missed some things.

A couple issues ago, SportDiver had listed 5 or 10 great AI diving destinations... Might be worth searching their site for the pricing and reviews... Seem like some were as little as $500 for 3 days...

How many dives did you get in? I cannot wait to go there!

I only got in 17 dives as the wife was a newbie at the time and we couldn't dive at the pace we can now. I was figuring on about 27, 3 dives X 9 days. But we had to save something to go back to I guess.

Take a look at Akumal and Puerto Aventuras (south of Cancun, Mex). They should be good on your price for AI and there is both snorkeling and scuba to be had. We stayed at the Oasis Puerto Aventuras about 10 years ago. I believe it is now the Playa Hotel Puerto Aventuras (from Google Earth). Snorkeling off their iron shore was pretty good but a little deep. If you can find tanks, it would be a great scuba. Lots of activities up and down the coast from their. Some of the lagoons in Akumal are very popular
snorkel destinations.

Looking at google earth some more, I think the hotel is now the puerto Adventuras Sunscape Resort.

And there IS plenty to go back to. There really aren't many beaches to sun on though. The horseback riding was great and I'd really love to try the windsurfing! And there are many dive sites we didn't make it to and many we'd like to repeat!

I took 3 other non-divers with me to Coz. stayed at the Occidental Allegra. Food and drinks were pretty good. It has a very nice beach and great service. Shore diving is not very good. I usually did 2 tank dives in the morning. It's pretty far from town about a 20.00 cab ride for the 4 of us. I stayed 7 nights and the cost was about 3000.00. I would go back again it worked out well for us.
