Cozumel?

I am gonna try to go on a cruise hopefully next may if I can get my days off at work that I need. I am probably gonna be going to Mexico. Gonna try to go to two places, one being Progresso and the other being Cozumel. I am thinking to do a dive trip while I am there. It says that it would take about 4 hours and cost between $50 and $100 dollars. Just wondering if anyone has ever been scuba diving in cozumel and if so what was your experience like? Would you do it again if you had the chance, (in Cozumel)?

I was on a Norwegian cruise an I dove Belize (off the boats excursions) and in Cozumel (I booked my own through Cozumel Diving: Blue XT SEA Diving, Cozumel Mexico).

My family an I will be taking the Carnival Holiday out of Mobile AL in March to Progresso and Cozumel. I will not be diving but, I'll definitely be snorkeling.

I'd do it again but, that's family time so I opted out of diving on cruises. I'll save that few hundred and put that on a live-aboard.

Michael

Dive with Martin hooked us up when we stopped off on a cruise. We met up with some Jersey boys and they said that they had called DWM and they told him to just stop by and they would have a boat waiting. They said to try to round up some people, but if it was just the two of them they would not be charged any more than normal. The four of us got there and the service was great! Give them a call before you leave and let them know when you plan to be there. Just remember to take cash they dont except credit cards!

If you can only do only one take Coz. I did a cruise dive there last year. I did go ahead and book through the cruise line (Royal Caribbean) and they literally met us at the dock, we took off for the reefs within 20 minutes of getting off the ship and were back in plenty of time so as not to miss departure. The 2 tank dive was $120.

I've not done any Progresso dives. When we made that port of call the family decided to go to Tzbilchaltun ruins as a shore excursion.

But Coz. is definitely worth it. 120' visib and 80 deg water when I was there in May.

I will be stopping in Cozumel next month during my cruise. I have arrangements with Dive with Cristina. I'll post a review when I get back.

Definitely Dive Cozumel. I did it on a cruise and booked it through the cruise line, but the dive ops listed above are all good boutique dive ops that will take care of you.

I'd add Aldora Divers to the list. On their site they say they hold a boat back for cruisers. Dove with them last year, steel 120 tanks with long bottom times. I managed 55 minutes, my longest dive as a heavy beather. Others were getting 80 minutes+

I did a dive through NCL. NCL doubles the cost of dive and the Ops take you to very ho-hum dive sites because half the divers are those that do the once a decade on vacation type diving.
I suggest booking your own dive, just be sure to let the Op know you are on a time schedule that must be kept.
Have a great time, Cozumel is a wonderful place to dive.

The only disadvantage to not booking through the cruise ship is if your dive boat breaks down or anything else comes and you don't make it back to the ship on time they will leave you. If you do book through the ship, they will wait regardless.
