You could take them with you...

Double AA batteries? Either a small Otter Box from ST or a medium Witz Case. I've had the smaller Witz case around my neck for about 5 years now w/o a leak.

You could probably stuff them under the backseat also. Seems like it's more visual theft there than anything someone works at.

Leave windows open and doors unlocked. Leave nothing in site. I have never had a problem. Spare batteries and glasses into small pelican box inside bcd.
Same goes with you house or hotel room. Leave nothing in plain site. In the years we have been going we have not had any problems.

We have the same problem at the trail heads up here in Alberta. If you leave something in plain site the bad guys will break into the car and take it.

I have been to Bonaire twice. I never had anything stolen at all. I have an underwater camera with strobe as well. I just leave the batteries and 1 or 2 o-rings in the truck's glove box. No one wants them. Just make sure you don't leave your camera/strobe in the truck unattended!

that's what i was hoping to hear...as long as you're not stupid about it hopefully no one is in such dire need for a random AA battery that they break into your truck for it!

I would actually stash my extra $20 under the seat slid into one of the cross bars.

They don't want hats, flip flops, dive bags, or hotel towels.

I agree, but funny, my dive buddy had something stolen out of his truck. Guess what it was stolen? His Atlanta Braves cap! I find that odd!

Need to be careful around that type--it sounds like mental illness--who would steal the Atlanta Braves hat??

My son and I are off to Bonaire in a few weeks. I was warned to leave my truck windows down and leave nothing in the truck. But, I know we are going to have a snack of some sort plus water bottles, our clothes and dive bags. We are certainly not driving to the site with our wetsuits on and we obviously cant take our T-shirts diving with us.
Are those items safe or do we have to bury them in the sand before our dive and only take the "treasure" map with us on our dive?

I think it's just hard to get that kind of cap on Bonaire.
