My wife and I did it a few years ago. You get your own gear and wet suit and after a briefing, they pretty much turn you lose in the aquarium. It was as enjoyable as swimming around an aquarium could be. Good vis, warm water and lots of marine life. Would I do it again? Probably not, but like some other dives we've talked about on this site, I'm glad I did it.

I've seen it but never had the desire to do it...

That is the dive that got me started in this sport... I have not actually completed that dive, as I did not complete my OW cert in time for my trip last month. It was bought, paid for, and cancelled. All reviews I have read have been very positive. Cost is $140, with a 10% discount for PADI, NAUI, and SSI certs. Disney Vacation Club members, AAA members and Anuual Passholders receive a 15% discount. Tour cost does NOT include park admission, BUT you don't have to purchase admission to do the dive. (you just can't hang out in the park afterward). I plan on doing this on my next trip in October.

I did it earlier this year - GREAT TIME - granted its in a tank (only 29').
The sea life is great - but playing with the kids in the windows was also fun. Highly Recommended - esp if you are in the area. I was down on business (a trade show) that was on Disney property. So it only took a short bus ride and I was there. -PH |

sounds like a fun thing to take a kid that just started diving to do, like junior divers and what not...
i guess it can be cool if you dive and find your kids watching you... maybe when i have a family.

I did a dive in the Vancouver aquarium to help clean up Spinnakers tank. Dolphins sure can poop a lot. However, the dive was interesting. I'm sure that the Disney dive would be very cool. I was tempted the last time I was in Orlando to give it a shot.
I did some blue water instead there. Wow! |

My husband and I did this last year. It was a blast! You can take in your own mask, but they will provide you with everything else. If you are cold-natured like me, be warned - the water is 76-78 degrees, and you are given a shorty to dive in. The 45 minute limit was perfect for me - any longer, and I was going to have to call it off because I was COLD!
But, they will not allow you to bring in a camera - as they put it, there are too many people out there who would like to find anything to make Disney look bad...But, they videotape the whole thing and show you the video in your "debriefing" afterwards - so you can see it before you buy it. When they shoot the video, they get everyone coming through a "swim-through" they have in the tank, in a little bubble they have, and, if you have family on the outside, they will videotape you with them on the other side of the glass. The animal life in the tank was cool - a HUGE grouper (the size of a VW Bug), some cool sharks, lots of fish, but I had a blast interacting with the people on the other side of the glass. My husband swam over to the glass at the restaurant, took his reg out of his mouth, and gestured to a few of the diners to see if they would share There were lots of kids to "play" with - I think I spent about half of my time interacting with the people visiting the aquarium...Maybe them seeing us having fun will get more people interested in diving...I think it's a fun thing to do if you are out there...We had a blast doing that and snorkeling with manatees the next day ![]() diverkatie |

Where did you dive with the manatees? Was that also at Disney? I can't get my wife to dive, but she can snorkel. I think she would love this. Also, I hear Disney has another reef adventure. Did you do that?
