Wyndam (Reef Club) Cozumel Resort Sand Dollar Sports Trip Report Nov 27 to Dec 2

A little behind in getting this up.

First the resort was excellent we stayed in Sabors, the adult only section of the resort. Private check in available. It was quiet most of the time. The pools were clean with a couple of fun slides into the pools. Room was good lots of space and the mini fridge was filled each day with bottled water and soft drinks. Towel exchnge at pool. Some activities daily but nothing to strenuous. Had two computers at the conceirge to use for email etc. Resturants were good most days lunch at the grill cant remember the names of any of the resturants. Had dinner at italian twice seafood once and oriental fusion (resturant in the sabors). All the food was quite good. There is a shopping plaza with a small store, a tequila factory cigars and a jewelry store. Some local artists/ craftsmen are near the main reaort pool at night selling their wares. Available golf cart for pickup as it was quite a hike to the dive shop.

Sand Dollar sports the on site dive op had excellent service. The boats were full everday but not overcrowded one day they used every boat they had. Sign ups were available in advance for other than scheduled dives( Devils throat, Punta Sur),the DM were knowledgable and kept everyones safety in mind. Always metioned to everyone if the didn't like the swimthrus to follow over the top. Always found something interesting to look at. Had an excellent night dive these are quickly becoming our favorite dives. This was our first trip to Coz and our first experience with drift diving I like it a lot except when we were off the wall and getting ready to go thru the reef to start back up it could be a little difficult to hold your place to get in line (Didn't help that on a couple of dives we had some people who like to lag behind then get there and try to get in front of everyone so the could try to take pictures in the swimthrus). They even let me have a loner reg at no charge on my last day of diving as mine had a leak when on the boat when it was placed on the tank. Saw a lot of reef inhbitants eels, angelfish, grunts etc on everydive. A couple of huge turtles but no other gig critters. Missed an octopus on the night dive.

All in all we would go back to the resort. After reading other posts we might try another dive operator but not because on anything in particular wrong with Sand Dollaar sports just seems ther a re a lot of excellent dive ops in Coz and maybe we would find someone else we lioke even better.

Thanks for your dive report. Each time I read a dive report from Coz, it just makes me want to go down there more. Unfortunately, no direct flights from D.C. area as the wife insists on direct flights. Some of the trips here seem justify her position. Oh well, glad you had a good time.

You may want to try diving with Cozumel Scuba Diving with Alison. Read good reviews about this op here.

Try and get her to unbend enough to route through Dallas or Houston to Cozumel; that way it won't be too hard a journey.
