Make sure your name and address are on each one of your bags...get good sturdy luggage name tags.
If you can, put something to stand out on all sides of the bags. There is no telling which sides will be visible when your bag tumbles down the luggage chute.

And put your contact information INSIDE the luggage as well. The tag might get ripped off so something inside will help at lost luggage.

Dive cert card is the only must have. Unless it is a dive only trip I vote to travel lighter and rent most of your gear. I tend to only bring my mask, snorkel and underwater camera.

Same. Unless it's a DIVE trip, I usually only pack my snorkel gear and proper exposure suit. Most places only charge $20 or so for the bc and tank rental if you are diving with them, which isn't a big deal.

On my DIVE trips, on the other hand, you will find the kitchen sink right next to my regulator bag.

One large heavy duty trashbag to separate wet gear from dry stuff on the way home.

Do not let thief ruin your vacation. Rent a safety deposit from your hotel and lock up all your extra cash and valuables such as your credit card and your passports.

Try to pay for everything you purchase outside the resort with cash instead of credit card. ATM machines are easily accessible.

Ditto on carry-ons...

regulator, computer and mask go in the carry-on! Don't forget batteries and a travel alarm clock. Depending on service you receive, $5 + per tank is typical for tipping on boat dives.

I assume most people don't travel with their weights. Are they then supplied on most boats? I'm going to Cancun in May. Thats why I'm asking.
