Never have in the past, but I'll gladly open up my bags if they wanna take a peek.
Don't know how much clothes you are bringing but the Star Dancer will do laundry for you at no charge and they do a great job on it. When I travel I usually take very few clothes and wash all the time.
Good to know.

I learned last year that I can get by with a couple of t-shirts and a couple of shorts. Not sure what kind of services I'll have in Goroka and Wananavu Beach Resort, so I'm packing a bit more.

We were able to stuff a months worth of clothing into 1 bag and our dive gear and accessories in the other 2. 1 carryon has the regulators, masks and 1mil wetsuits, the other has my camera gear and laptop. My "personal bag" has our blankets and pillows for the flight (been reading too many disgusting things about airline pillows/blankets), a few books, prescription medications and our travel documents. My wife's "personal bag" has her diabetic supplies and books.

I think we're pretty well streamlined given the time we'll be away.
Bring the pillow. I don't know what airline you're flying, but some big US airlines have stopped giving pillows, if you're in coach. No blankets, either.

NY to LAX. No pillow. I hate Delta.

(All the more so since I have super special comfy neck pillows from Brookstone and forgot the damn things in the rush to get to the airport)

We use zip ties on our checked luggage... seems to discourage theft.

Also started putting zip ties on backpack when I had stuff stolen out of it by the passenger in front of me reaching under his seat and rifling through it to take some cash.

I just returned to Europe with my regs in my carry-on backpack. I was expecting to have to take them out to let security check them over, but I went through 2 security checks (one in Dallas, one in Amsterdam) and they didn't even blink. Of course I had to take my laptop out, which I still think is totally ridiculous...

I think they did study my carry-on for a bit longer than usual in the X-ray scanner, but that's all. I keep the regs in a reg bag so it's easy to take out if needed.
