no touching permitted. Gloves (protection) might encourage it.

In fact, you will find that gloves and knives are a 'no-no' in many places; particularly where efforts are being taken to do all they can to preserve the reef. In tropical waters, gloves are really unnecessary as long as one is not touching things.

The gloves of all the people on my boat in Cozumel were confiscated at the beginning of the trip...gloves are definitely voodoo when you're country's reefs are that pristine.

No Gloves

Scubafreek! Glad to hear it - that they have a 'no gloves' policy. It is my personal feeling that when gloves are sold, they should be sold with a disclaimer which states that the user understands that they are NOT to be used to touch marine life or objects; dead or alive. Thanks for your post!

I live by the "no touching" policy with regards to everything underwater...the only thing I use those gloves for is to keep my hands warm.

Very good advice to not forget your c cards! The wife and I went on a cruise and I was looking forward to doing some diving until I got to the shop and had forgotten my card. I've got to hand it to the shop operator for not letting me dive without my card. I had fun teaching my wife to snorkle from the beach.

I forgot my C card on a trip to Cancun a few years ago. The dive shop checked the NAUI website, verified my certification and I was in the water. I don't know if PADI has a similar service but as a backup it worked for me.
