Curacao Aug 2008

Traveling with another couple down to Curacao and staying at the All West Apartments. Figured it was time to try this on our own instead of doing the resort thing. Plus, I had a co-worker go to Habitat Curacao last year and while he said it was fantastic, he also said it's mostly driving yourself around for shore diving... so... we figure we can buy some groceries, grill out and set our own schedules. We do have two days of boat dives but the rest, we're on our own.

I would be nervous (who am I kidding, I AM nervous) but the two guys are your typical go-to-guys and they do take really good care of us girls... but this will also be my first time at shore diving unless I can squeeze something in between now and then down in Florida maybe.

The only thing that sucks about the whole thing?? I just KNEW I was going to South America.. a whole 'nother continent but noOoOoo.. Curacao, which is only 44 miles north of Venezuela is still considered the Caribbean.. sheesh.. the disappointments I must live with ..

Yeah, I figure I can talk good about them if it gets them to be more compliable .. (is that even a word?? )

Just what that person decided to do. I go there and never shore dive except off their dock...

Seriously, don't worry about the shore diving though-it'll be just fine! I guarantee it will be nothing like trying to get in with 5 foot swells in Monterey, so if I can do that, you can do this!

But given my incomparable ability to decipher even the most incomprehensibly butchered english, I know where you're going with that and all I can say is, "fat chance, sweetie!"

"Go-to guys" notwithstanding, I doubt Wayne and I are going to get anymore "compliable" than we already are at this late stage in our lives.

And as for the shore diving...Diver-up, girl! (That ought to earn me a slap from Athena!)

Yep, got them. They sound shocked and insulted..interesting. At least it does seem to be pretty clear we should have free acccess to tanks
