Where to stay in Roatan
I will be in Roatan for 6 weeks in June and July. Anyone have any advice concerning a rental with a kitchen for that amount of time? Right now I imagine I'll stay in the West End. I am not set on the West End, but it does appear to more affordable and perhaps more to do when I'm not diving. Based on the website, I am thinking about diving with Native Sons. Any opinions? Thanks

We rented a house on Tabyana Beach (half way between West End and West Bay). I would not do that again because we had to take water taxi or drive everywhere. I like to be where the action is. I think West Bay had the nicest beaches and resorts from what we saw. We dove with Coconut Tree Divers in West End and had an excellent experience. Everybody there is friendly, helpful and experienced. Jose even certified my Jr. Diver daughter. We would definitely dive with them again. I am not familiar with Native Sons diving. I suppose you could call the dive shop and they could recommend a place to stay. Have fun, the water is beautiful there.

Sueno Del Mar and The Lobster Pot
I was in Roatan for a month last january and stayed in the West End. I dove with Sueno Del Mar and stayed in town for half the time in a nice studio. I stayed in the West End Hotel (it had a different name then so I don't know if it is new management). But Ray is wonderful and Sueno Del Mar is wonderful and there is a great restaurant run by an island woman and her daughters right next to SDM on the beach that I HIGHLY recommend. It's called the Lobster Pot and they have the best food including lobster omelets for breakfast. So having done that I would highly recommend that for you. No matter what you do you have to stop by the The Lobster Pot. It's enough to make you cry and they will cook special meals for you when you are there for that length of time.
