need new camera

In the market for a new Camera. My old DC500 flodded last week on the last dive of the trip. Saved the SD Card though. Looking for a compact in the 6mega pixel range with wide angle zoom and Manual over ride. With the option of adding a tray/strobe.

Looked at the Nikon l11 offered by ST Does anyone know if there is a wide angle lens that can be attached to the case?

Read a lot of bad stuf on the fuji F50.

Open for suggestions

The Canon A570 and the WPDC-12 housing has worked wonders for me!

I have a Canon SD870IS on order, which has a wide angle lens, and the Canon DC17 case. Ikelite also makes a case for the SD870.

After much researce I've discovered that the ideal UW compact probably does not exsist. But here's my wish list

6MP, 3x optical zoom with 28mm-112mm (35 mm equivilent), Manual control option, Manual white ballance option, UW mode, available TTL strobe with several options.

IMO-the two of the best options on the market would be the Canon G9 and the Sae & Sea 1G. You did not post a budget so it makes it hard to be more specific to your question.

Really no need for UW mode if you plan to shoot manual. White balance would apply if you plan to shoot available light but not with added strobe(s).

There has been alot of good reports on the Canon G9. If I was looking at a compact I would have a good look at it. I also recommend the ikelite housing for it. Its twice the price than the canon, but i think its worth the money in the long run.

Regards Aussie
