First attempt at UW photos w/ SP-350

Attached is a link to my photobucket album showing my first ever UW photos. All taken using the SP-350 and Oly UW housing. They are listed in reverse order of how I took them. As you can see at the beginning I was using the on camera flash and even though the water looked very clear I still got a lot of backscatter. I saw this after reviewing the pictures on the TV in our hotel room. I also forgot to set manual WB the whole first day because I was so stoked just to be diving! The next day things got a little better w/o flash and setting WB correctly. However the camera went to sleep at one point and reset the WB to auto. So I had a lot of correction to do on the WB of the jpgs. Used Adobe Camera Raw for this and it worked quite well I think. It was a LONG process though to go through settings for each picture.

Please, any comments - especially suggestions - are welcome! I've attached the couple I like the best.

All were taken in Playa diving w/ Jason of Fantasea dives.

They frequently do that, but it is not a friend relationship and the first sign of the lobster in trouble... they are all over it. It is a common way to get bit, just grab the lobster and the Moray will grab you and the lobster...

Ok, I am impressed with the shots... some great images... but there is something big time wrong with the lack of color... even with the correct white balance. Only the shrimp, and that is a bit blurry.

Were you using the F2.8 / 1/60th /higher iso settings? If so, the the camera would turn down the flash until there was almost none, for every exposure... leaving you with almost no color...

I have to say though, the images are great... nice going.

Nice images indeed. Not too shabby for the first attempt.
