I was thinking of taking a toslink cable(TOSLINK - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and seeing if I can make my own.

I found a cheap way. If u look at the connectors on the old cable, there Allen key screws that should be able to remove the cable from the connector.
Look here: Sea & Sea Fiber Optic Cable Connector #90001 Now go to radio shack and by a cheap fiber optic cable and splice it carefully. This should work. |

I found a $4 replacement. This cable works with NO ISSUES, now i need to adapt some kind of tip to snuggly fit into the ports.

I finished the cables. I made 2.
the first: for my connectors I used a 1/4 hex bolt with no threads on the top 1/2 inch. I cut the bolt where the threads starts, drilled a hole in the center. (As best as possible). Stripped the outer cable to get the the inner protective cable. for the second: I used a 1/4 plastic spacer from lowes. The fiber optic cable was exactly centered. The spacer hole needed to be enlarged a little. The entire cable was able to fit into the spacer. for both I used epoxy cement. Then place some duct tape on the ends to secure the connector the the stobe/camera. I tried some o-ring, but they were too large. |
