I was in a Gander Mt store over the weekend and they had great stuff...no scuba stuff to speak of but they had just about everything you could want for fish/camping/hunting.

Not true. We picked up our Oceanic Alpha 8 regulators (1st & 2nd stage) from the Houston location off of 290. $84 each.

The Oceanic Alpha 8 Octo's I bought from ST to put on them were $90 each after the forum discount. heh

They've been pretty well picked over, but I saw a few items in the Spring, Houston store that were really good deals. They didn't mention that they were closing that branch's scuba dept. Just replacing a few brands.
What they said was true at one time. Spring was one of the first four test locations then they later expanded to more locations.

I was in the Spring store Thursday night and the only specials I saw were 50% clearance on Evo products, which are mostly wetsuits category. Maybe more stuff went on sale over the weekend?

The Sugarland Gander Mountain had Scuba equipment the last time I was in. I would call to verify they are having a sale before making a trip. They are at 59 & the Grand Parkway. At one time they had a really good selection. I purchased most of my equipment for the OW class at this location and saved considerably over my LDS.

Guess it didn't take off then.

I think this a perfect case of trying to sell something without doing their market research first.

We just picked up Faber blue steel 130's for $159.99 each in the Middletown NY store including pro valves, VIP, and a fill. Not all the scuba stuff was on sale though, only select items.

Gander Mountain in Aurora, Colorado added a scuba section about a year and half ago. They recently started to sell gear at clearance like prices but didn't advertise it. It seems that this store is doing away with the scuba section, which is probably for the best. Their prices were good but they had no service to speak of and the staff had no knowledge of their inventory. I purchased a few items at ridiculous prices and will go back to check further...In a way its kinda sad because when they first got scuba gear and the prices were so reasonable, I figured that the LDS's would become more reasonable price wise...The LDS's didn't even blink and Gander Mountain began to raise their prices once they realized that they were so far below the market pricing in the area. I know I'm still kicking myself for not buying AL80 tanks at 119.00 apiece...

I was in the West Palm one a couple weeks ago and oicked up a pair (the last pair) of Cressi Garas for $69.00. It was not advertised.

Went in there when I first saw this thread. No specials, but dwindling inventory. I suspect, they are just letting the Scuba section die. Stuff should sell here without super clearance prices. That is until they get down to the XS wetsuits and 6cf ponies.
I keep checking non the less.
