Question Warranties

Do warranties on used gear transfer to new owners? Or does it depend on the company?

I think that you will find that most companies are very explicit with regard to the xfer of their warranties. The last piece of equipment that I bought (computer) specifically stated that the warranty was non transferrable. Check the companies policy if it is a concern when purchasing used gear.

I can't recall any company, in any field, giving transferable warranties.

Some European countries mandate that product warranties are for at least 2 years and are transferable.

In some places, consumer protection laws requires transferable warranties. But not in the good old USA.

That is one more reason to NOT send in warranty cards. If the company has never registered the product (which would include warranty work) then the company would not know it transferred
