I just have problems....there should be a very, very simple editing tool out there by now so codecs, format, file types, length, resolution and length of video don't matter...and neither does the amount of RAM or memory.
(In my dreams, I know.)
I'm sure people would be willing to pay a little more for a product like that too!

if you are having problems with Pinnacle and Elements it must be you or your computer!
Both programs are pretty easy to use but you MUST have a computer capable of handling them. You also must save after every couple of edits (every 5 minutes or so), which only takes a split second if you do it that often, ....but if you don't it will hang things up! I used to make this mistake and found it wasted so much time having to restart the program.

The big thing about editing is TIME. You need to watch video clips over and over, cut and move and save and watch again, and repeat. As I tell everyone, underwater video is 10% diving, 90% topside editing in front of your computer!!!

My LDS shoots video of all of our trips. One of the owner's does all of the editing on his mac. He told me that he usually ends up with approx 20-30 hrs worth of time editing their videos down to a 30 min dvd. Gotta say that the end product is very cool!

Recently Fry's Electronics was offering Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 and the Video editor package for $70. That is a great price. I use PSP X1 for imges and by itself, it was more than $70. Fry's might run tha special again.

Yes, the only way I was able to get the video finished was saving every 3 to 5 minutes. Otherwise it would hang up and I'd have to reboot.

Nice video Scubarobin, thanks...It looks very good....

I have a dsl service and my download initially was going slower than the HD default download setting..(The video player was constantly pausing waiting on more material to be downloaded)..So, if anyone else does not have cable speed or not quite top speed downloads from dsl, click the HD setting to off and you will probably be able to download and see it smoothly without waiting on the larger HD files to reach your computer....

Make sure you invest in some way to learn how to use the software.

The 300 page book that comes with Pinacle seems to be pretty in depth and I have a buddy that's good at this short of thing. Time will tell. I will be working with it extensively, come November.

I've been using Ulead Video Studio. Editing works pretty good, once you get the hang of it and can remember where you are at with your "cuts".

A lot of my videos look good on the computer, but get really "grainy" once they are loaded on the web. But, I am really new to all this and learning my way through it.

Well that's the excuse that I'm gonna use to, unless they turn out better than expected.
