Hello from Oklahoma

Greetings all,
I am Steve from Oklahoma, I'm 49 and have been married for 30 years. I'm new to the forum, and relatively new to diving. I got my NAUI scuba diver cert in August 2010. It was one of the things I always wanted to do but never had the time or money. Wow diving has honestly changed my life, my wife learned to swim after 30 years of marriage. We have been somewhere in the Carribean every 4-6 months since. I have worked up and I got my DM in January. I work with the LDS a lot and greatly enjoy helping students and taking new divers to the ocean their 1st time. Diving has cut into my other interests but they kinda mix though. Im a volunteer Firefighter and Paramedic at my local fire department. I was a full time medic for a few years, but working 80 hrs/ week got old. I went back to machining, way better money and hours. I got started diving late but, better late then never. I hope to meet up with some of you diving! Till then make the best of the surface interval!

Welcome. The number of divers joining the forum is increasing every few days. It must mean that spring is near!

Welcome to the forum. You are way south there. I was going to recommend hooking up with Oklahoma Aquahunters, a great bunch of folks. they are out of Tusle and OKC, but it seems that they will take all comers - including *gasp* Kansans!

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm and Okie, but sorry Soonerwink I'm an OSU guy. Hey we don't play football underwater though. Tulsa is several hrs away, OKC is closer and I have frequently visited the diveshops there. The LDS here is small so we know almost everybody around here. There is a little bigger one 30 miles away and we know most of them too. We have lots of opportunities for trips. I told my wife when she learned to swim I was as proud of her as I was when the kids were born. She was deathly scared of the water, so it was a life milestone for her. She has learned to snorkel also and is really enjoying it. She has 5 sets of snorkel gear now, as they have to match her bikinis. I have read a lot of posts today, kinda get bored at work. If anyone is in South central Oklahoma give me a shout, we can do some muck diving maybe if it ever rains again.
