Hello from Pittsburgh

Hello, first day on the forums. New diver, really loved diving in the the US VI, hated diving in the cold, dark lake near home. I may turn out to be a fair weather diver, but my local dive shop operator is trying to get me to open my horizons.

From former PA boy: those cold dark dives will build skills and confidence in the water. When you finally hit your vacation dive site, you will already be comfortable and able to enjoy the view. IMHO
Plus, you never know when those dark water skills will come in handy. I did an airboat recovery from the bottom of Lake Okeechobee a few Christmas' ago. The air temp was 48 F and the water was 60 F. The vis was zero. If i held a lightstick right up to my mask I could see it. If it was 6 inches away...nothing.

Oh come on, cold water diving just has that special kind of something that tells people that you're really hardcore

Seriously though, my wife's the same way, she hates diving the cold-no-vis stuff we have here!

Welcome aboard!

The only reason I dive in our coldwater is that if I didn't, I would hardly get to dive! Welcome to the boards TopSully.
