Hi, my name is Mike, and I'm a Scuba Noob.

Whew... feels good to get that off my chest... just to get it out there in the open! Wow, I never thought that would be so difficult to say...

So, I came across this forum while looking for some dive equipment as I'll be getting my Open Water Cert later in July (pending my successful completion of the course that is) ... and everyone here just seemed so friendly and helpful I had to drop in and say hello.

I expect to be around here quite a bit as diving progresses from hobby to lifestyle and it is destined to do. See, if you couldn't tell by my intro, I have a relatively addictive personality; that intro comes straight out of experience... lol... I'm always finding vices to replace in my life and the most recent deadly sin is sloth.

I'm thinkin diving could turn into a nice expensive solution to this.

That shouldn't be a problem! I, on the other hand, figured that diving had to be cheaper than my last hobby of autocross racing. So far, that has not turned out to be the case

I too am new to diving. I'm on the fast track as it would seem. From May 18 to June 29, I've gone from a beginner in rental gear to PADI Rescue Diver with 3 additional specialities and a nicely tricked out gear package, and I've got two more specialities lined up for completion next month. Not only that, I got an OW card for NAUI and an OW card for PADI just to compare the two organizations head-to-head for myself. Mixed into all of this was a 2 week non-diving vacation. I can't say that I've been bored over the past month and a half.

Thanks for telling me about this forum last weekend pyre24. Wish I'd joined sooner...lots of good stuff here. I'm sure there are a few others in the class who'd benefit.
