Hello All!
Greetings All,
New poster here. I've been diving for about 5 years now. I did my first few dives in Hawai'i and then California, but have done the bulk of my diving in Southeast Asia where I was living, working, and traveling as a Divemaster. Spent a great deal of time diving in Malaysia, especially Sipadan, Mabul, and the other surrounding islands, as well as Thailand and Indonesia. Anyway, I'm back living in San Francisco and looking to reintroduce myself to cold water diving ![]() The other thing I wanted to mention, though not sure if this is the right place to do it... I work for a company called Metaweb where we are building Freebase: a massive collaboratively-edited database of cross-linked public domain data. I've created an area for Scuba Diving, where I've been collecting data about regulators (as I've been researching a new regulator purchase for myself). Things like how many low-pressure ports a given model has, what type of first-stage design it employs, or if it's environmentally sealed. I think this could be a pretty cool resource for the online diving community, but am curious to see what other people think. As an example, here is a look at the Zeagle regulators in the database: Zeagle Regulators I'd love to create a centralized repository for all regulators, so if you have information about a particular model, it'd be great if you could contribute it. And just to be clear, this is public-domain data. The data stored in Freebase is all freely available via a Creative Commons license, so anyone and everyone is welcome to use the data how they see fit. That's it. Thanks! |

Welcome to the forum. I was just looking at the FreeBase web-site to see what you're talking about. Impressive. As a web-developer, I' very interested in the API to access the tables.

Vercingetorix, thanks for the reply! We've got a pretty well developed API based in JSON. I'll be curious to see what kind of queries you come up with.
What do you think of the First Stage Regulator schema I've started? Curious what you think would be a useful addition. MSRP? |
