Yes, Wisconsin found out about diving...

Hey everyone,
So...brand new to this site and completely, incredibly, brand new to diving. And I love it. Seriously, just got certified today. haha. I actually live in Wisconsin but am currently deployed for a year where there is a million and one scuba-diving opportunities--not to mention that I plan on moving to Florida post-deployment. Yeah, warm water!

Anyways, I'm a complete water baby, just a late bloomer to the dive scene...although i've heard there are some amazing fresh-water dive spots in Wisco...

Any help on gear to pick up or brands would be much much much appreciated! This little island i'm on doesn't have much for choices. Thanks everyone!

Deployed to the ever-news-prominent Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Nine months left!

Took me around 3 months to even get certified, and now i'm obsessed. I'm loving this diving life.

And as to the GreenBay thing, that's awesome! I'll have to keep that in mind when I come home next spring!

Sorry for late responses!

There is at least one other diver on this board stationed at Gitmo.

Welcome to the party and thank you for your service to our fine country! If ya got to be stationed over seas and diving you are in a great location! The US and British Virgin Islands are both teaming with amazing diving! as I am a US citizen so I cant speak to any Cuban diving???? As far as gear goes if ya want gear now and can call to TX give the gang at ST a call and they well get you set up right good with a great package! Post often and post well cuz its worth cash money to you. $10 for your first ten posts and $50 for your 250th plus an always 10% off for being a ST forum member.

Welcome. Where in WI? Other than the Great Lakes region, the only place I know of for diving in WI is Lake Wazee. I guess it used to be an open-pit mine that's now filled with water. But I live in MN and am a new diver, so I'm sure I don't know all of the good inland places.

Hey everyone! I'm horrible at checking my posts! But I'm sure there are some Gitmo folks on here, that's how I found out about this website was through some friends down here.

I don't know if i'll be able to take Wisco diving after living here, it's just too beautiful! I posted some photos under GTMO diving...or something like that. I'm starting the advanced diver course this weekend, so like I said--Wisco will take alot to compare! Thanks for all the advice and i'm loving this site with how helpful people are!
