I have been diving once off of Morehead. We dove the Spar and the Papoose. For me, it was great fun to swim with the sharks for the first time. As for visibility, I have nothing to compare it to since all of my other dives have been in tropical waters.

I am down there every week or two now so my wetsuit is living there for now.

Thanks for the note!

I'll be doing the Indra this Friday with Discovery. I've done the Indra several times, but this will be the first time at night. The Indra's a great dive, IMO. It's large, so there's lots to see, and it's shallow, so you get plenty of bottom time. It's also inshore, so the boat ride out isn't that long.

The Spar is a very cool wreck. I've done it twice, and both times there were plenty of sand tigers.

Hi Joe, greetings from downtown Raleigh. Actually, all of my dives have been open ocean dives, the idea of diving in the quarry didn't work for me!

Have you been to Fantasy Lake? Three of us were up there a couple weeks ago, and basically taught ourselves navigation. When we took it for AOW, it was no problem, because we'd already learned how to do it.

If you want to learn nav, that's the place to do it.

The Indra at night is pretty cool. If you can get out there at nght, it's worth the effort.
The weather last night was about as good as you could ask for. Seas were about 1 foot when we left the inlet. The sunset was beautiful, and the dive was awesome.

Glad you had a good dive Friday Rocket man, I'll have to try the Indra at night sometime.

I was surfside in Atlantic Beach this weekend, no diving.

Going out on a charter next weekend, have no idea where we are going, but talked the instructor into doing my AOW and nitrox so that I can be a better dive buddy to my very experienced dive buddy.

Now if I can find some $$ to get my equipment.

Who are you getting your training through? I'll be finishing my AOW this Saturday with Lee from Discovery. We'll be doing the Wreck and Deep dives.

Morehead calling Lullubelle and Rktman this weekend-see you in the water!

Hi Rktman,

Well, I'm doing my entire AOW (albeit a teeny bit earlier than planned) and Nitrox this weekend (F, S, S) with an instructor from Georgia. He had a charter (with Diver Down) that he needed to fill. He offered me the chance to do AOW and Nitrox if my very experienced dive buddy and I joined the trip, so I took him up on it. Had my nose in the books all weekend. Should make me a much better dive buddy.

See you in the water! Do you know what wrecks you are going to? Be safe!

We never really know what wrecks we're hitting until the morning of the trip.
The Captain usually takes a vote, but will try to sway it one way or another based on conditions.

If everyone is pretty much undecided, he'll make recommendations based on what he knows/thinks about visibility, seas, and recent conditions. It's always worked out in the past.

Good luck on your AOW and Nitrox. I'm almost done with AOW, still got deep and wreck to do, but I won't have a problem with either of those.

Next stop is Nitrox. After that, I'm probably done training (at least done paying for a check in the box) for awhile.

Hi again RKTMAN,

What specialties did you do?

I'm doing the Nitrox cert first so I can have a bit more time down there. The Papoose was a particularly short dive on air. The ride out is SO long that I am looking forward to having more bottom time. Plus, my buddy is one of those 500 plus divers, so my lack of is holding her back.

I don't have any specialties. For the AOW, I did Nav, Night, and Search and Recovery. Wreck and Deep will be Saturday. I've done about 15 boat dives on wrecks, so this should be pretty easy.

I just looked through my logbook When I did the Papoose, I got 29 minutes underwater, with a max depth of 115. That was the same day I did the U-352.
