Long Island, NY
Hi everyone!
My name is Dave and I am new to diving. Im currently working as a paramedic on Long Island and have quite a few friends that will be happy to finally have a dive buddy. I am taking my open water at Port Diver, in Port Jefferson. If anyone who knows the area and has some suggestions on Local Beach Dive with interesting things to check out would be appreciated. I have access to 4x4 on the Suffolk County Parks and could use it to get to a site. Also, I am interested in learning spear fishing and sea hunting and if anyone local has an idea of equipment and locations it would be cool Finally, I am an avid DRY photographer and would like to maybe move into the WET world, but its not on the top of my list right now. Well thats it for now, hope to chat with some of you soon. From my other post about BC and what not everyone has been really great and helpful so far. Thank you all |

Thanks for the warm welcome!!! I've only got a few days left till my open water class and im excited..
My buddy don let me try his reg and BC in my pool last summer and i got the idea that i would like diving.. Then two weeks ago on vacation in N. Carolina, i was snorkling in the tide pool and was looking at crabs, little pipe fish, and even found a whole sand dollar. I think that hooked me, because I came home and three days later was down at the dive shop signing up for the class. My soon to be fiance (dont tell her that though, its surprise) got me a cage dive in the shark tank at the local aquarium for a christmas gift and I cant wait for that either... i need to stop putting that off and go for that. whoo hooo |
