Texan Diver Trained in Aussie Land

Hi all. I recently returned from studying abroad in Sydney, Australia. I started scuba diving while over there and have gotten mildly obsessed since. I could go shore diving whenever I felt like it so admittedly am a little bummed about being back (live in Austin).

I had the opportunity to do some pretty neat diving. Did the Great Barrier Reef, S.S. Yongala, and also Nusa Lembongan near Bali, Indonesia.

Looking forward to continuing diving in this hemisphere and getting excited about getting my own gear. I don't think most in the US realize how fortunate we are in terms of prices on diving gear. Often a 100% markup on retail prices in Australia as compared to the US!

Don't be bummed about Austin, there is Lake Travis. The warm, clear ocean is way overrated.

Reef was warm, but I can assure you that the diving in Sydney is not warm! Water temperature was often about 14 degrees Celsius. In fact, did nearly every dive in Sydney in a 7/5 suit. Also, we did a boat dive in Manly one day (a suburb of Sydney) and there was less than 1 meter visibility. So much for warm and clear! Haha.

Welsome back. At least the gulf is closer than most. Flower Gardens and a few wrecks await.
Are you use to the water spinnning the other way yet?
