Hello from South Florida

Greeting all

I started diving in 1992 and dove on a regular basis until I moved to Michigan in Dec 1996. Once I got to MI I stopped diving because I didn't have a job thus zero money. When I finally did have the money I didn't have the time Working 70+ hours sucked.
Now I'm back in FL and am going to start diving again once I can buy some equipment.
I have my trusty Zeagle BCD, Dacor mask, a Genesis steel 80 that needs hydro. I need to buy fins and a reg. The reg I have now are pretty old (Dacor Pacer) and haven't been serviced in over a decade.
I recently order a Zeagle ZX-50D Reg and can't wait for it to get here.

I'm hoping to learn and relearn a few things here and I hope to see few of you in the water.

A little about my certifications;
PADI Divemaster
Cavern Diver (both PADI and NCIC)
Cave Diver (NACD)
Nitrox Diver (IANTD)
Technical Deep Air Diver (IANTD)
Technical EANx Diver (IANTD)
Trimix Diver (IANTD)

Where are you? There's a great club in the Fort Lauderdale area: South Florida Divers Inc. South Florida Divers, Inc. SCUBA Club in Hollywood welcomes you! You'll meet a lot of divers who have fun during surface intervals, too.

Was just in your neighborhood.

Aquarians can live underwater!!!
Yesterday I went on my first boat dive. We went out of West Palm Beach, Florida to the Breaker's Reef and Paul's reef. OMG! I had sooo much fun. I was much more reserved and hesitant than need be before this dive. The instructors said they had fun watching me have so much fun! Now, I need dive gear. Suggestions?
I loved it down there. Going back real soon. Went off the NARCOSIS boat.

I went to the SCUBA DIVING CENTER, INC on the Intercoastal in W. Palm and looked at their facility. Pretty impressive. Looked like they even had rooms to stay in, a pool, deep diving tank, recreation (grills, etc), all in one place. Any suggestions where to go in South Florida or a dive boat to go off of?

That's a pretty impressive resume of certs for someone who hasn't been in the water in 10 years. That's was some cutting edge stuff not so long ago.

Welcome back to diving!

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Before I left for MI I dove a lot with Jim Mims at Ocean Diving, Inc. in Pompano Beach. They were, and hope still are, a great operation especially for the tech diver.

MSilvia - I got my OW in 92, my DM in 93 and after a bit of diving with students my buddy (an instructor) and a couple of friends decided to do some pleasure diving. We got into Deep and Cave diving when we weren't teaching students.

LGardner: My current boat du jour is ScubaTyme. Jerry's boats (Parrot Island? someone help me here!) and South Florida Diving Headquarters are also good. Those three are out of Pompano. American Dream from Fort Lauderdale Pier 66 is a good boat.
