Problem with VT3 transmitter

Hi everyone. I am a new forum member and am in dire need of help.
I have replaced the battery in the VT3 computer as the reading said "lo" and the battery symbol was showing after my last dive. The manual recomends replacing the transmitter battery at the same time - which I have done. Having replaced both batteries, the computer reads "battery good" but the transmitter is "TMT1 unavailable" and despite a couple of tries at re-inserting the new and old batteries the transmitter does not seem to be transmitting.
I am off to dive the Underwater Great Wall at the end of the week and need this all to work....
HELP!!!

If you have a download cable available I would suggest that you use that to connect to your dive computer. Using Oceanlog software, check to ensure that your transmitter serial number (found on a white sticker on the body of the transmitter) is entered properly and that your transmitter on function is turned on.

You can also do this by going into the dive computer and manually setting the transmitter number and activating the transmit function. For me it's easier to do with the cable but if not available then look here:

http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/pdf/12-2705-r02.pdf

for the VT3 manual. The transmitter reset procedure for TMT 1 is on page 50. The e-manual is about 3 megs so might take a while to download depending on your connection speed.

Thanks for answering MagnaBoxer. Your instructions were spot-on but still no luck. I posted the problem on the Oceanic site and I have this morning had an email and a follow up phone call from Scott at Oceanic in Rosebud Melbourne. After walking me through the process it looks like the transmitter has failed. So nothing I was doing was ever going to work!!! I have arranged to go to the Oceanic office on Wednesday when Scott has kindly offered to work miracles as I need it for an OS trip at the end of the week. I am much impressed with the service and one-on-one contact...
Thanks again. Jo

You could always buy an old fashioned spg for your trip. They actually work very well

This approach worked for me

I wasn't taking ANY chances with it when I went to Truk Lagoon.
