What's was the cave like, how deep, etc? How much has the rest of blue hole changed since the 70's.
As far as boring, I guess that depends on your outlook. During the winter, Blue Hole is the closest place to me that's not too cold for a wetsuit but has decent depth and visibility. It aint Palau, but it beats Lake Murray any day. That and it's awfully hard to find good mexican food in Oklahoma, makes the short trip worthwhile. |

I'll have to check them out. As Lawton is about two and half hours away, I don't make it down there very often.
Don't get me wrong, although I've enjoyed Oklahoma ever since we got here, I stopped counting the times when some well intentioned Okie highly recommended some "Mexican" restaurant that turned out to be more akin to bland airline food. For example, in Texas, I'm considered a lightweight when it comes to all things spicey. Here in Oklahoma however, aside from a few select Asian locals in OKC, I've yet to find a sauce worthy of calling "hot". After being here for about three years, I just decided to hold off on mexican restaurants unless we were back in Texas or otherwise beyond state lines. |

the OP is from New Mexico so I am guessing he is talkiing about the Blue Hole at Santa Rosa, NM. Yes, it is better diving than not.... but no, it probably wasn't better diving back when the cavern was open as there were no maps of it and several people died, that is why it is closed off now. I have 100+ dives there, enjoyed them all and I have done lots of diving all over the world. I love to dive...
