Boy Scout Scuba Merit Badge announced

In our local area, there was a Boy Scout Venture Crew
specifically created to support older scouts getting their OWC & AOWC.
A local instructor + pool time + equipment was donated...
Just had to show up for lessons with your own mask, fins, & snork.

Our son finished his Eagle last fall (18yr old)
and also did his OWC and AOWC last summer..
He and I also did GPS Geocaching when he was younger.

This spring break, as a high school senior and as a graduation present -
we did a Carnival cruise so he could get some real diving done,
like Roatan, Belize, Cayman, Coz,
as we are in the Chicago area with mostly quarry diving...

He had a great time and would go back to Roatan...

Awesome!! They didn't have that when I made Eagle at 14.

So, is he going to do Boy Scout Sea Base in Florida?

I was reading the manual (thanks for posting). Very thorough.

The badge design, however, is missing something. I know!!!


This might be a good marketing opportunity for ScubaToys. Something like, "email a photo of your signed SCUBA merit badge application and/or card and ScubaToys will give you a $50 off your first purchase." Get'em hooked early.

I just submitted my paperwork to become a Scuba Diving Merit badge counselor along with my other MB's, I'm glad they didn't require me to be an instructor.

My older son earned Eagle 6 weeks prior to his 18th, my younger son is 16 and is almost there. He already completed the requirements for the MB, now he just needs a counselor and his Scoutmaster to sign off the cards....

That is so cool. I am a Den Leader and was never informed of this. Thanks for the info. Now if only I could get my son away from the video games and studying for OW.
