Landed in Okinawa on a SAC flight from Thailand in 1973. Stayed only two days but did see what a beautiful island it is! Gee I hope we can return some day and really experience the island and it's culture!

Okinawa Dreams
I was stationed in Okinawa while in the US Navy back in 2001-2004. I lived about 2 blocks off Gate 2 street near Kadena. I had some of my best dives off that little island. Lots of great memories and bottom time. I'm new to these boards but glad to see you here. Do you happen to know a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant last name of Dunn? Cant remember his first name but he retired on the island and I heard he stuck around. He is also a Master Diver. Anyways, thanks for reminding me of the great times I had in Okinawa.

Yes I know Ed Dunn. I took my night and peak performance buoyancy specialties from him. He works as a civilian on Camp Foster and also as an instructor at the Kadena Marina. He really is a great guy. Here is a link to his weekend dive report: Kadena Marina Scuba Locker Here is a pic of him during my son's open water pool dive: Imageshack - 16july08016 |
