Newb from the South!

My name is Josh, and just recently was certified here in South Carolina last June. I was certified with SSI at Wateree, and did my checkout dives in Lake Murky. It was pretty neat though to start with a place with such low visibility, because it can only get better from there.

I have done a few more dives in Murray, a few off my dock and a few over at Little Sandy Beach to see what I could find. Ended up with some heavy duty boat rope, a broken ladder, some sunglasses and a golf ball

The most fun dive trip so far was the crystal clear water at Blue Grotto in Williston, FL. I have never seen fresh water so clear. A few catfish, a very friendly snapping turtle, minnows you could catch with your hands and engravings on the wall were the main attractions.

And went to dive out of Wilmington, but do to bad sees the trip was called off the day before

Dive trips coming...I want to go see some of the wrecks off on NC still. One of my good friends just moved to Crystal River, FL as well so also looking to make more trips down that way.

Welcome aboard, Josh. I also originally certified thru Wateree back in '84, and we also did our OW check-outs in Lake Murky. Did you crack open the lake mussels and feed the aggressive little piranhas they call bluegills there?
