Hello from Virginia
Hi,
Just joined the forum today and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Bob and both my Wife and I are divers from Virginia. We've been diving for about 4 years now and have roughly logged 200 dives. We are also volunteer divers at the Virginia Aquarium in Virginia Beach. I look forward to chatting with you all in the future. Bob |

Hi Cshel,
Thank you for your reply. My Wife and I live in Mechanicsville which is just a few miles Northeast of Richmond and about an hour away from Lake Rawlings. Rawlings is a great place to train and have fun but the water can be a bit on the cold side if you don't have the right gear. Especially in late September early October !! Glad you had a good time when you were there. Bob |

Aquarium diving is quite a bit of fun. It is a little more technically challanging than you might think. Even though the tank is only about 12 feet deep, it takes a fair amount of good bouyancy control and body control. You have to keep yourself from running into things and possibly causing damage.
We also run an educational program on diving geared towards the kids. While a diver is in the tank, an educator is outside explaining the divers gear etc. The program ends with the diver feeding the fish. That's the real challange. The fish (some fairly large but no sharks) know the routine cold and swarm you when it's feeding time. They really go after your fingers so you have to be pretty quick. It's a lot of fun and I'd recommend it to any diver !!! |
