Great to have you here! I've been to GC probably about 30 times. Used to stay at the SeaView about 15 years ago... before it got taken out! I love Cayman... so many great shore dives - so you can decide when and where you want to dive without depending on the boats and their schedules.

Do you work in the diving industry down there? Or just lucky enough to live there?

Just lucky enough to live and dive here. Whole new world opened up. As you say, so many places to choose from and diving is such a major part of the island

My husband and I are going to be going to Grand Cayman the week before Christmas. Any good Dive Site/operator suggestions? We are staying at the Marriott Resort and probably going to rent a car to get around. Thanks!

Very much depends on the kind of diving outfit you are after. For very good but not touristy then Divetech and Ocean Frontiers. Both are probably slightly, onl slightly, more expensive as a result. Red Sail is very established as is Sunset House. There are the classic shore dives at Eden Rock and Turtle Farm Reef and you can rent your equipment at either place and head out for great diving. Ocean Frontiers is at the far East of the island and has access to the most unspoilt of the diving and the bigger forms of aquatic life. You will definitely need a car to get there and it will take you about 30-40 minutes from the hotel but worth it. Divetech has two locations and Cobalt Coast is the more secluded (about 15 minutes drive without traffic from your hotel). For boat diving off the north wall then the Marriot will have an operator based out of the hotel (Icannot remember which offhand) which will be able to take you there on two tank boat dives. I could go on and on!

Welcome to the board!

I'm sure many folks here will pick your brain from time to time as we head your direction.

I am heading to CG next week. Coming in on a cruise ship, I think on Thursday. Hopefully we can come ashore this time. Last year the sea was too rough to allow tendering. Needless to say we are REALLY hoping to get there this time. I'm doing a 2-tank with Neptune.

I'd like to take the wife down by plane and spend a week there. Maybe next year.

Welcome..need some advice

Welcome!! I'll be cruising to Grand Cayman in May and would like to stay away from booking a dive excursion through the cruise line. Can you give me any suggestions on a dive shop that accommodates cruisers? We're due to be in port from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. I'm just finishing my OW certification so this cruise will be my first ocean diving.

Thanks!!

The diving was AWESOME! Calm seas, mild current, warm water, over 100 foot vis. I can't wait to fly down and spend a week or more there!
