First it would be a good idea to purchase Franco's maps for both of the islands. You can find these on the internet. These will show you the island and popular dive spots boat and shore.
There is great diving from charter boat and beaches on both islands. As far as a must do dive the back side of Molokini Crater is a world class destination and has to be done. If you make it to the big island the night manta dive will blow your mind!!! Good luck.....Have fun and post some pics when you get back. ![]()

Having dove there on several trips I don't think there are any bad dives in Hawaii. But, like restaurants, some sites and operators appeal more to some people than others.
Start following the links from someone's web site, then pick an operator and take a look. I agree Molokini Crater is great as is The Cathedrals off Lanai. The other islands have great diving also. |

Hello From Arizona
Just signed up and saw your post. Maui is the absolute best diving... you can actually drift dive around black rock. I suggest a quick location/orientation and then off you go. Kauai is also nice especially going with the turtles.
Spooky. |

Dived a week in Maui two years ago. Great vis, but cooler temps (76*) and much less abundant coral than the Carribean. Molokini is great, and the drift dive around the back is really cool. I dived with Scuba Shack, and Lahaina Divers. The cathedral caverns were awsome, but the Lahaina operation was much more of a cattle boat situation. Very professional, but a lot of divers and DMs on the boat. Went to Kauai too, but not to dive- we hiked the Nepali coast.
