Greetings

I've been in the Tech Diving game for a little while. I was originally trained on the East Coast of the United States and spent 14 years out there doing all the big bad wrecks while taking advantage of technology. I have somewhere around 5500 dives completed, about 2700 of them are gas dives, and probably more than 3000 of them have been on shipwrecks.

I completed my 52nd dive on the Andrea Doria and my 14th trip there in the summer of 2006 and also completed my 30th dive on the USS Monitor as permit holder and expedition leader this past summer. We were recently awarded the permit for diving the B-29 Bomber in Lake Mead by the National Park Service. .

I run a little company called Scuba Training and Technology / Tech Diving Limited in Arizona where we serve more than 20,000 divers worldwide. We specialize in technical diving equipment for the OC and CCR diver. We also manufacture a dive software product called NAUTILUS DIVE PLANNER.

I've written a few books on nitrox and technical diving and three major sections in the NOAA Diving Manual (decompression, nitrox and mixed gas diving) ........

I look forward to contributing to the list.

Regards,

Welcome matey, it will be great to hear more on what you know in the tech (darkside) field of diving. I would love to get into this side of diving some time in the future for all the wrecks. scapa flow and jutland interest me greatly. Anything world war 1 and 2 for that matter.

There are thousands of wrecks in and around our country. The nice part about wrecks is everyone can dive one. (experience permitting) There are nice easy wrecks in clear warm water off Florida to deep, dark cold wrecks in Lake Superior or the North Atlantic. There are wrecks in 15 feet of water and some as deep as 2 miles down. Wrecks give us an opportunity to visit a moment in time where time has stopped. And, then time takes its toll on the remains. Salt water deteriorates wrecks, fresh cold water preserves them. Some wrecks are dark silty messes of junk and others are home to some incredible flora and fauna and thousands of species of underwater inhabitants ....... go get wrecked!

Cheers

Not more than 48 hours ago I was having that discussion. I might consider going to Fla to do a cave course just for kicks. I was talking to Lamar English today discussing who a good instructor might be for ME.

I have access to so many that finding the right one is important. I was thinking either an old school one like Mount, Hires, Bailey, Orlowski, etc or go out and find a brandy new cave instructor who just got his ticket.

As to having done ALL the wrecks ....... nope there are still thousands of wrecks out there to still do. Wrecks is what I do. Cave may be something i mess with.

Cheers

Well that's a different tune than you were singing a couple of years ago in your shop! Let me know when you head out. I wanna watch...especially if it's a new instructor...
