Underwater Digital Camera
Hello,
I am very new to diving (only 2 years) and am interested in learning about underwater digital photography. Last year I purchased a used ReefMaster 3.1 digital camera and light. It takes pretty good pictures but I would like to move up a little bit to maybe a 5.0 or 6.0 digital camera. What are some suggestions for those of you who have some experience with cameras and such? I would like to purchase a camera before our next dive trip in February as both my daughter and granddaughter are urging me to get another camera so when we all go diving they can use my camera for their personal diving experience pictures. Thanks for all your help. |

cindy, first of all, WELCOME to the forum!! glad to have you.. second, there's a lot of good posts about various camera configurations on the board, and the reefmaster 5.0 and 6.0 get some really awesome reviews.. i'm considering the 5.0 myself.. in fact, i'm probably buying it today!... run a search, and you'll find a wealth of information, PLUS you'll meet some really cool members!

I use a Nikon p5000 (10 megapixel) with a Fantasea casing. It's a great combo, the Nikon can be set to be fully automatic to fully manual (which is better for underwater photography), the whole thing is very compact and the lens is Macro as well. the whole pkg is about $500. Of course there are plenty of extra accesories you can get for it such as strobes, wide lens, filters, etc...
